Feb. 29 - Structure Fire (Second Platoon) - Engine 13 and 203 responded as the RIT company to a reported structure fire in a manufacturing plant.  Crews found a small fire involving a piece of machinery.  Fire was extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher.  Assignment: E8, E4, E1, L3, L1, EC3, 203, E13 (RIT) and RS1.

Feb. 21 - Structure Fire @ 5004 Newtown Pike (Third Platoon) - Engine 13 as the RIT company with other companies to a reported structure fire near the Fayette/Scott County line.  Engine 19 first on scene advised flames visible.  During operations a single victim was located.  They were transported to the hospital but did not survive.  Assignment: E19, E10, E8, L3, L5, EC6, 203, E13 (RIT) and RS1. 

Feb. 14 - Motor Vehicle Collision @ New Circle Rd., Inner Loop, between Leestown Rd. and Georgetown Rd. (Second Platoon) - Responded to a reported vehicle overturned.  Upon arrival multi-vehicle MVC with no entrapment.  Two patients transported and one fatality.  Accident under investigation by Lexington Police Department.  Assignment: E13, L3, EC5, RS1, 203 and 242.  Added EC1.   

Feb. 12 - Structure  Fire @ 1705 Brewer Dr. (Third Platoon) - Engine 13 responded as the RIT company to a reported structure fire.  Crews found a small fire in the kitchen that was brought under control quickly.  Assignment: E8, E2, E4, L5, L3, EC3, 201, RS1 and E13.  

Feb. 12 - Structure Fire @ 1346 Village Dr. (Third Platoon) - Engine 13 third due to a reported structure fire in an apartment building.  Crews encountered heat and smoke but no fire.  Fire was found in the pipe chases and other voids.  Engine 13 stretched a second line into the structure as crews searched for extension.  Assignment was upgraded to second alarm when all hands were working.  Engine 13 worked extinguishment and overhaul in one apartment.  A total of six units were involved.  Initial alarm: E14, E11, E13, L4, L2, 203, E12, and RS1.  Second alarm: 200, E20, E4, L1, EC7, 205 and E9.

 Feb. 8 - EMS (no address due to HIPPA) - (Second Platoon)  Assisted EC6 in the safe removal of a bariatric patient from their home.  EC10 (our baraiatric equipped ambulance) and 242 (EMS Duty Officer) also responded.  

Feb. 3 - Structure Fire @ 4 Earl Ct.  (Third Platoon) - Start of a busy evening for Engine 13.  Dispatched for a reported structure fire in a moblie home.  Engine 13 was the responding RIT company.  While companies were picking up a second moblie home fire was reported in the same trailer park... E10, E4, E8, L3, L1, EC6, E13, RS1, and 203

Feb. 3 - Structure Fire @ 18 Imperial Ave.  (Third Platoon) - Second trailer fire in the same development Engine 13 laid  a supply line to Engine 2 and assisted in the extinguishment and overhaul of the structure.

Jan. 26 - Motor Vehicle Collision @ West New Circle Rd., Inner Loop between Leestown Rd. and Georgetown Rd. (First Platoon) - Single vehicle accident with a mini-van on its side.  Single patient extricated by removing the roof of the vehicle.  E13, L3, RS1, EC6, 203 and 242 

Jan. 24 - Structure Fire @ 147 Londonderry Dr. (Second Platoon) - Engine 13 resopnded with other companies to a reported structure fire.  First arriving companies reported flames visible from Oxford Circle.  Upon arrival E14 reported they had a fully invovled shed.  E14, E11, E13, L4, L2, EC5, 203, RS1 and E12

Jan. 17 - Structure Fire @ 5758 Greenwich Pike (First Platoon) - Engine 13 responded as the RIT company to a reoprted barn fire in the "county."  In addition to being RIT, Engine 13 also assisted in shuttling water to the scene and overhaul.  E19, E8, E2, L5, L3, EC3, 203, and E13.  Added were E3, E4 and E17.

Jan. 12 - Vehicle Fire @ West New Circle Rd., Inner Loop between Leestown Rd. and Georgetown Rd. (Second Platoon) -  Passenger vehicle fire contained to engine compartment.

Jan. 8 - Motor Vehicle Collision @ Versailles Rd. and Red Mile Rd. (First Platoon) - Motor vehicle collision requiring a "Jaws" response for two units of the Lexington Police Department.  Both officers involved have been released from the hospital.  E13, EC5, L2, 203 and RS1.  Add L3, EC3 and 205.

Jan. 7 - Structure Fire @ 1201 Devonshire Ave. (Second Platoon) - Engine 13 functioned as RIT at a trailer fire.

Jan. 6 - Vehicle Fire @ 120 Halls Ln. (Second Platoon) - Engine 13 responded to a passenger vehicle fire.

Jan. 5 - Structure Fire @ 2416 Merchant St. (First Platoon) - Engine 13 was first due to a working fire involving an electric furnace at a local production facility.  Water could not be used due to the explosive and electrical hazard.  Situation was brought under control through good pre-planning and cooperation between the fire department and the facility.  Furnace was moved to a safe area by fire department and plant personnel where it could cool down.  E13, E10, L3, and 203.  Upgraded E4, L1, EC5, RS1, and E8.

Jan. 3 - Structure Fire @ 212 Perry St. (Second Platoon) - First LFD structure fire for 2008.  Second due to a single family dwelling.  Attic fire with extension to the bedroom.  An off-duty LFD captain assisted in removing occupants before the fire extended into the bedroom before companies arrived.  E13-A & B manned the back-up line while E13-D secured a water supply for E4.  Fire was quickly knocked down.  Engine 13 assisted with overhaul.  E4, E13, E6, L1, L3, EC8, 203, RS1, and E8.

 

 


6-6-07 --McConnells Trace--2 Females and 1 Dog rescued--E13 along with other units were dispatched to an unconcious person possibly due to a Carbon Monoxide situation.  E13 pulled two females from the structure and turned them over to EC1.  L-3 rescued a small Daschaund dog and then was transported to Versailles to an animal Hospital.  Apparantly a vehicle was left on inside an attached garage.  Look at the following link from WLEX 18 TV to view video.  This was the first use of the new Animal O2 Masks donated by Lexington Kennel Club.  All Engine companies have these kits.


6-6-07--Alexandria Dr.-- E13 responded to a vehicle accident.  Upon arrival crews found 1 vehicle vs. a telephone pole.  Upon investigation crews found that the accident had resulted in a fatality.  View the following link from WLEX 18 TV for more information.

3-26-07--- Westland Dr---- Structure Fire-----  Engine 13 First in on a commercial Structure Fire with heavy smoke visible from a mile away.  Heavy smoke and fire visible upon arrival..  Crews pulled 1 2-1'2", and 2 1-3/4" Handlines to extinguish a fire inside a auto repair facility.  Crews encountered heavy heat and flames while smoke was present in all 4 units.  Crews contained fire into 1 unit.  Several Crews operated on the fire.  E13, E14, E4, Rescue 1, L4, L3, L1, E12(RIT), EC5 and 203.

3-26-07---Leestown Rd---Structure Fire----E13 and other crews dispatched to a Mobile Home Structure Fire.  Upon arrival crews found a recreational vehicle with heavy fire on the outside.  Crews pulled 1 1-3/4" handline to extinguish.  No other exposures we in danger.  Crews responding were: E13, E10, E4, Rescue 1, L3, L1 202 and 203.

3-15-07-----Garrison Ave ---Structure Fire--- Above crews responded to above address for a report of a structure fire.  Upon arrival crews found heavy fire in upstairs.  One victim was pulled from the structure. Refer to http://www.kentucky.com/ for news reports on the fire or go to http://www.lex18.com/  for video.  E13 had second due assignment and assisted in fire attack and search in upstairs bedroom.

3-3-07---Masterson Station Neighborhood--  Structure Fire--- E13 was first due to a 2 story residential structure fire early Saturday Morning.  Crews found heavy fire conditions upon arrival.  Fire appears to have started somewhere in the garage area and is still under investigation.  Many crews worked to stop fire.  This was the first fire of three for the day.  Right as this fire was dispatched another fire on the North side was dispatched.  Later that night E13 as (RIT) made a structure fire on N. Broadway.

 

2-10-07--Masterson Station---- Vehicle Accident with entrapment---  Crews responded to the above address for a report of a vehicle vs. a house.  Upon arrival crews found 1 patient inside vehicle.  Crew forced both doors for access and patient removal.  Unbelievable cold weather and snow were a hindrance during this incident.  Temps were around 5 degrees. Units responding were: E13, L3, EC6, R-1 and 203.

 

 

2-03-07   E-13 responded to a multi-vehicle accident with entrapment at Newtown Pike and Main St.  Crews were able to remove patient by removing them via the removal of partial roof at the sunroof.  Crews dispatched were E13,L03,EC6, RS1 and 203.  E-4 was enroute to a private alarm and added themselves due to their close proximity to the run.

 

 

 

12-21-06  -- 2nd Platoon --  Our Native Lane--  E13 responded as a Squad Company for a horse that had fallen into a sinkhole. E-13 initialy reported yearling trapped in a 7' to 8' sinkhole.  Due to recent rains the sinkhole opened up and collasped under the weight of the horse. Due to the depth the horse was unable to escape.  Local Vet. sedated the horse to prevent further injuries.  Crews then packaged horse and used a 6"x6" gantry to make a high anchor to remove the horse.  (Note: Victim is pictured in center of both photos)  Units Responding were E13,E8,R-1,R-2 and SOC Batt.
